Juicer Reviews - Omega J8006 and J8003

Both the Omega J8003 and Omega J8006 are part of Omega’s family of masticating juicers. Masticating means reducing something to a pulp by crushing or kneading. Masticating juicers operate at slower speeds, compared to centrifugal juicers, and grind, chew and squeeze juice out of food, like teeth.
Below is an Omega masticating juicer comparison chart:

The Omega J8003 and the Omega J8006 are both high quality juicers built by the Omega Company. The Omega J8003 and the Omega J8006 are both both UL and cUL approved. These approvals can be interpreted as quality, and rightly so, as the Underwriters Laboratories Inc. type approvals are exclusive.

Both the Omega J8003 and Omega J8006 come with a one third horsepower, 3,600 RPM motor which, when in use, gears down to 80 RPMs which is the equivalent of 2 horsepower.

Both Omega juicers are single gear masticating juice extractors. These juicers use a low speed
of 80 RPMs which minimizes heat build up and oxidation. This is turn maintains the healthy enzymes in juice and promotes
longer lasting juices (excessive heat can be damaging to juice).
In addition to fruits and vegetables, these juicers also have the ability to juice wheatgrass and leafy greens. Further, the Omegas can expand beyond juice and turn nuts into nut butters, extrude pasta, grind coffee
and spices and mince herbs and garlic. This is possible because of the very low speed at which both of the juicers operate at. When working at 80 rotations per minute, there is lesser chance of a clog causing heat buildup, or being unable to work the clog out itself.

The biggest differences between the Omega J8006 and Omega J8003 are price, warranty length and auger type. The Omega J8006 carry’s a 15 year warranty versus 10 years for the Omega J8003. Also, the J8006 has a new auger (the screw that turns inside the masticating juicer and produces the juice) that Omega says is 8 times stronger than other augers on the market. The extra warranty and new auger results in the last main difference between these two machines; the Omega J8006 costs about $70 more than the Omega J8003 juicer.
